PUBLIC SPEAKING ANXIETY AND COPING STRATEGIES AMONG STUDENTS IN ISLAMIC BOARDING SCHOOL
Abstract
Abstract: This article discusses the correlation between students' public speaking anxiety and speaking achievements at Islamic boarding school in Malang, Indonesia. This study aims to determine whether or not there is a significant relationship between public speaking anxiety and speaking achievements in Islamic boarding school students. This study used descriptive quantitative design and correlational design. The participants were 10th_grade students at a private Islamic boarding school in Malang, Indonesia with a population of 72 students were taken using purposive sampling techniques. The instruments used are in the form of public speaking anxiety questionnaires and final test scores for speaking achievements. The results of the analysis show that the correlation value of the coefficient is 0.393 meaning that the Pearson product-moment correlation coefficient is a low correlation between public speaking anxiety and speaking achievements because the significant score is more than 0.05, in other words, there is no significant correlation between public speaking anxiety and speaking achievements
