IMPLEMENTASI PROGRAM MAKAN BERGIZI GRATIS (MBG) DALAM MENSTIMULUS PERKEMBANGAN KOGNITIF ANAK USIA DINI DI PAUD ISLAM TERPADU AL-BIRRU KOTA MALANG
Abstract
This study aims to describe the implementation of the Free Nutritious Meal Program (Makan Bergizi Gratis/MBG) in stimulating the cognitive development of early childhood at PAUD Islam Terpadu Al-Birru, Malang City. The study used a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation involving the school principal and Class B teacher. Data were analyzed using the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldana, consisting of data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing and verification. The findings show that the planning of the MBG program includes identifying students’ nutritional needs, referring to government policies and technical guidelines, socializing the program to parents, setting objectives, arranging schedules and teacher responsibilities, and preparing strategies for children who do not finish their meals. Implementation is carried out according to schedule through coordination among the principal, teachers, and food provider, with teacher assistance during meals. The meals include carbohydrates, animal and plant proteins, vegetables, fruits, and milk. Cognitive stimulation is observed through children’s ability to distinguish objects and colors, interact and follow instructions, and remember numbers, geometric shapes, and colors. Evaluation is conducted through observation of program implementation, children’s responses, participation, and cognitive development. The program supports nutritional fulfillment, learning readiness, and the conditions that support cognitive stimulation.
