ANALISIS DIMENSI API BIODIESEL MINYAK KEDELAI YANG DIPRODUKSI DENGAN KATALIS DAUN PEPAYA DAN TULANG HEWAN MENGGUNAKAN METODE SINGLE DROPLET
Abstract
The consumption of fossil fuel in Indonesia tends to increase each year, thus requiring an alternative energy such as biodiesel. Biodiesel can be produced via transesterification reaction using heterogeneous catalyst. This study analyze the flame dimension of soybean oil as biodiesel produced with papaya leaf and animal bone catalyst using single droplet method. Based on the results of the flame dimension analysis that has been carried out, it can be concluded that increasing the catalyst concentration from 2 wt% to 6 wt% in the biodiesel transesterification process causes a decrease in the flame height and width. The sample with 2 wt% catalyst produces a maximum flame height of 22.857 mm and a flame width of 7.979 mm, greater than the 6 wt% sample which only reached 20.505 mm and 5.537 mm, respectively. In addition, increasing the catalyst content also correlates with a decrease in flame lifetime.
