Abstract

 

This study aims to explore Generation Z's perspectives on their career expectations and analyze their implications for the development of adaptive competencies to meet the demands of Industry 4.0. This research used a qualitative approach with an intrinsic case study design, at the Soto Tangkar Babeh Oga business unit of CV Karya Tereoga in Malang City. Data were collected through structured interviews, observation, documentation, and in-depth interviews with three informants selected using purposive sampling techniques. Data analysis was conducted using the Miles and Huberman method with the aid of NVivo 12 software. The results indicate that Generation Z's career expectations focus on job satisfaction, work-life balance, skills development, and the desire for career independence through business ownership. Adaptive competency development is influenced by dimensions of career adaptability, including concern, control, curiosity, and confidence, and is supported by hard skills and soft skills such as responsibility, communication, problem-solving, and digital literacy in the use of technology and AI to support work effectiveness in the Industry 4.0 era.
