Abstract

This study explores the challenges and adaptation strategies of Korean-American English tutors in the Indonesian EFL context. Using a qualitative narrative inquiry approach, data were collected through semi-structured interviews with two tutors and analyzed using thematic analysis. The findings show that the participants faced linguistic, pedagogical, and sociocultural challenges in teaching English. To address these challenges, they employed various adaptation strategies such as flexible teaching methods, structured classroom management, and culturally responsive practices. The study highlights the importance of pedagogical flexibility and cultural awareness in supporting effective English teaching in EFL contexts.
