THAI STUDENTS’ PERCEPTION OF THE PRE-SERVICE TEACHERS TEACHING COMPETENCES AT DOCTOR NUENG INTERCARE KRABI SCHOOL

Abstract


This study explores Thai students’ perceptions of Indonesian pre-service teachers teaching competences during their teaching practicum at Doctor Nueng Intercare Krabi School, Thailand. The study focuses on four core competences: pedagogic, professional, social, and personal. Using a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through semi-structured interviews with two students and classroom video documentation, then analyzed thematically. Findings revealed that students perceived the pre-service teachers positively in all four competence areas. Teachers demonstrated structured and adaptive teaching, appropriate English usage, effective integration of technology, strong interpersonal communication, and confident classroom presence. These results highlight the readiness of Indonesian pre-service teachers to teach in international contexts and can inform future teacher training programs, as well as provide insights for improving the preparation of teacher candidates in the context of multicultural teaching of English as a foreign language (EFL).
