PENERAPAN MODEL LEARNING CYCLE 5E BERBANTUAN MEDIA POWERPOINT UNTUK MENINGKATKAN KEMAMPUAN KOMUNIKASI MATEMATIS PADA MATERI DIAGRAM STATISTIKA PESERTA DIDIK KELAS VII SMPN 17 MALANG

Abstract


Abstrak: Masalah yang ditemukan dalam pembelajaran matematika di kelas VII SMPN 17 Malang  yaitu rendahnya kemampuan komunikasi matematis peserta didik. Faktor penyebabnya adalah model pembelajaran konvensional yang digunakan bersifat monoton dan kurang menarik, sehingga kurang mendukung keaktifan peserta didik selama proses pembelajaran. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk 1) mendeskripsikan penerapan model Learning Cycle 5E, 2) mendeskripsikan hasil peningkatan komunikasi matematis melalui penerapan model Learning Cycle 5E berbantuan media Powerpoint pada materi diagram statistika  peserta didik kelas VII SMPN 17 Malang. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian tindakan kelas dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Subjek penelitian melibatkan 28 orang peserta didik kelas VII-A SMPN 17 Malang. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan sebanyak 2 siklus. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan yaitu melalui hasil observasi kegiatan guru dan peserta didik, hasil tes akhir siklus, hasil wawancara, dan hasil catatan lapangan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan (1) Penerapan Model Learning Cycle 5E Berbantuan Media Powerpointdapat meningkatkan kemampuan komunikasi matematis peserta didik dengan tahapan pembelajaran sebagai berikut: a) Kegiatan awal; b) Kegiatan inti (engagement, exploration, explanation, elaboration, evaluation); c)kegiatan penutup. (2) Deskripsi hasil peningkatan kemampuan komunikasi matematis melalui analisis data terlihat  pada siklus I ke siklus II dimana a) hasil observasi kegiatan peserta didik meningkat dari  75,75%  ke 88,9% dengan kriteria “sangat baik, b) hasil observasi kegiatan guru meningkat dari 79,25% ke 91,75% dengan kriteria “sangat baik†c) hasil tes akhir siklus meningkat dari rata-rata 71,25 dengan persentase ketuntasan 71,4% ke nilai rata-rata 82,5 persentase ketuntasan 78% dengan kriteria “sangat baikâ€, d) hasil respon peserta didik meningkat dari 50% ke 83,3% dengan kriteris â€sangat baikâ€peserta didik merespon positif terhadap pembelajaran Learning Cycle 5E berbantuan media Powerpoint
