AN ANALYSIS OF UNIVERSITY STUDENTS’ PERCEPTIONS ON THE USE OF COMPUTER-MEDIATED COMMUNICATION IN SPEAKING SKILLS

Abstract


Abstract: This study was conducted to investigate University students’ perception of computer-mediated communication. A total of 40 from 124 English students in the year 2021/2022 at the University of Islam Malang participated in this study. Descriptive qualitative, analysis of questionnaires from Google form and interviews via chat Whatsapp were used to analyze the findings. The study revealed that students' CMC usage to support learning was high. The analysis showed that students’ perceived value and expectancy of success were high. Female students value implementing CMC in learning more positively than male students. Generally, students’ perceptions of the CMC were positive.
