POTENSI SARI BIJI KEDELAI (Glycine max), RIMPANG JAHE (Zingiber officinale) DAN KOMBINASINYA TERHADAP KADAR MALONDIALDEHIDA SERUM DAN KETEBALAN DINDING AORTA PADA TIKUS MODEL DIABETES
Abstract
Introduction: Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a metabolic disease characterized by increased plasma glucose levels and contributes to the onset of makroangiopati complications. Soybean seeds (Glycine max) and ginger rhizomes (Zingiber officinale) are used as an alternative to DM treatment and its complications, but research on the combination of both is still rare. This study to prove the effect of soybean seeds, ginger rhizomes, and their combinations on Malondialdehida serum levels and thickness of the aorta wall in DM rat.
Methods: This study used sprague dawley male rats aged 4 weeks, weight 180-200 grams divided into 2 control groups namely normal control group and treatment control and 4 treatment groups namely soybean, ginger, combinasion delja 1 and 2 (n = 5 tails). The rats were induced with a high-fat-fructose diet and streptozotocin 25 mg/kgBB intraperitoneal (i.p) multiple dose. Soybean seed extract 5000 mg/kgBB, ginger rhizome extract 500 mg/kgBB, combination delja 1 2500 : 250 mg/kgBB and combination delja 2 5000 : 500 mg/kgBB given orally for 30 days. Malondialdehida serum levels measured by MDA rat kits and thickness of the aorta wall measured micrometers. Data was analyzed using LSD test with significance p<0.05.
Results: The administration of soybean seed extract, ginger rhizome, combination delja 1 and 2 decreased malondialdehida serum levels by approximately 20%, 30%, 20% and 30% compared to the positive group (p<0.05). While thickness of the aorta wall can be inhibited around 15%, 10%, 10% and 15% compared to the positive group (p<0.05). Meanwhile the effect of DM induction on the positive control group increased malondialdehida serum levels and thickness of the aorta wall 50% and 30% compared to the normal control group (p<0.05).
Conclusion: The administration of soybean seed extract, ginger rhizome and its combination can reduce malondialdehida serum levels and inhibit thickness of the aorta wall in DM models.
