Abstract

The Nyuwang-nganten traditional wedding is a hereditary wedding model from the time of our ancestors to the present. This nyuwang-nganten wedding is a wedding process where the groom takes the prospective bride to the groom's housing the day before the marriage contract takes place. The method used by the author in this thesis research is to use an empirical legal research method with a field research approach or also known as case study research. The researcher utilizes three data sources: primary data, secondary data, and tertiary data. Data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation. Checking the validity of the data used in this study involves data triangulation, which involves temporally assessing the validity of the data through in-depth interviews, longer observations, discussions with experts, and discussions with colleagues. The results of this study are that Nyuwang-nganten has been born and developed since the time of our ancestors until now. The Nyuwang-nganten custom aims to integrate religion and applicable traditions by incorporating Islamic sharia law into it. Usually, this nyuwang-nganten custom brings the prospective bride to the prospective groom's residence the day before the marriage ceremony is said.
