HUBUNGAN KEMAMPUAN BERBAHASA EKSPRESIF TERHADAP KEMAMPUAN MEMECAHKAN MASALAH ANAK USIA 4-5 TAHUN DI KECAMATAN DAU
Abstract
This study aims to find out the level of expressive language skills, problem-solving abilities, and the relationship between expressive language skills and problem-solving abilities in 4–5-year-old children in Dau District. The study uses a quantitative approach with a correlational research type. The study population consisted of 956 children aged 4–5 years in Dau District, with a sample of 100 children selected using purposive sampling from 10 early childhood education centers. Data were collected through observation sheets and questionnaires, then analyzed using normality tests and correlation tests Pearson Product Moment. The research results show that the expressive language skills of 4–5-year-old children are in the good category, as well as their problem-solving abilities, which are also in the good category. The normality test results show that the data is normally distributed with an Asymp. Sig. value = 0.200 (> 0.05). Furthermore, the Pearson Product Moment correlation test results show a positive and significant relationship between expressive language skills and problem-solving abilities in 4–5-year-old children in Dau Subdistrict, with a correlation coefficient (r) = 0.712 and a significance value (Sig.) = 0.000 (< 0.05). This correlation value falls into the strong category, indicating that the better a child's expressive language skills, the better their problem-solving abilities. Therefore, expressive language v skills play an important role in supporting the development of thinking and problem-solving abilities b in early childhood.
