Abstract

Society 5.0 information technology is experiencing rapid changes in economic, social aspects and one of them is parenting patterns that have had a major impact on the lives of all families in the world. The results of a survey data in a survey at the University of Michigan involving 2,044 parents implementing a gentle but disciplined parenting pattern and the results of a survey in Indonesia involving 423 parent respondents in Indonesia showed that 62.4% prefer flexible rules and discussions in parenting patterns, children who are raised in an open communication environment have better intelligence, one of which is curiosity. This study aims to explore the relationship between democratic parenting patterns of generation Y parents and the curiosity of Alpha generation children aged 4-6 years in Malang City. This study uses a quantitative approach and a type of survey research with purposive random sampling involving 78 generation Y parents who have Alpha generation children aged 4-6 years through a G-form questionnaire. The results of the study showed that the democratic parenting pattern of generation Y parents is in the very high category with an average score of 3.5, while the child's curiosity is in the high category with an average value of 2.85. Hypothesis testing using Kendall's tau-b shows a correlation coefficient of 0.044, a fairly significant relationship between variables X and Y but not significant (p = 0.702). The findings of this study state that a very high democratic parenting pattern has no significant relationship to children's curiosity because it is influenced by the indicators of the research instrument
