Abstract

Introduction:A high-fat fructose diet (HFFD) will induce dyslipidemia.Complications from dyslipidemia can cause damage from kidney tissue due to oxidative stress. Soursop leaf water extract (Annona muricataL.) has potential as an antioxidant. The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of Annona muricata L. water extract on levels of SOD and MDA in the right kidney tissue in male wistar rats induced by HFFD.

Method:Design of study was post test group control only. The study used 25 male wistar rats aged 8-10 weeks with an initial weight of 175-200 grams. Rats were divided into 5 groups: negative control (normal + aquades diet), positive control (HFFD + aquades diet), treatment 1 (HFFD + 100mg / kgB.W), treatment 2 (HFFD+ 200mg / kgB.W), treatment 3 (HFFD + 400mg / kgB.W) with each group consisting of 5 rats. The treatment was carried out for 10 weeks. At the end of the study an analysis of SOD and MDA of right kidney tissue was carried out using spectrofotometer with wavelength of 580 nm and 532 nm..Data analysis using one way ANOVA and LSD with a significance level of P <0.05.

Results:HFFD can reduce SOD ± 60% and increase MDA ± 70%.The soursop leaf water extract dose of 100mg/kgB.W, 200mg/kgB.W, and 400mg/kgB.W can significantly maintain decreased(p=0,000) the level of right kidney tissue SOD ± 40%, 40%, and 60% compared to positive controls and can significantly reduce (p=0,001) MDA levels of right kidney tissue ± 40%, 40% and 50% compared to positive controls.

Conclusion:Soursop leaf water extract can increase SOD levels and reduce MDA levels in right kidney tissue on the HFFD.
