Abstract


Suboptimal irrigation water distribution in Waekasar Village has reduced the ability of the irrigation network to meet crop water requirements due to channel deterioration. This study evaluated irrigation water demand, existing channel conditions, and crop water requirements using Cropwat 8.0. The research employed hydrological analysis based on ten years of rainfall and climatic data, followed by evapotranspiration and crop water requirement calculations using the Penman–Monteith method in Cropwat 8.0. The results showed that the maximum irrigation water requirement (DR) was 2.92 L/s/ha, with a Net Field Requirement (NFR) of 1.90 L/s/ha during the third period of October. Cropwat 8.0 produced a reference evapotranspiration (ET₀) of 4.77 mm/day and a Crop Water Requirement (CWR) The crop water requirement was 4.96 mm/day in Planting Season 01, 4.52 mm/day in Planting Season 02, and 4.96 mm/day in Planting Season 03. Furthermore, all seven existing irrigation canals were found to be incapable of conveying the required design discharge, indicating the need for canal improvement. These findings can serve as a reference for improving irrigation management and enhancing water distribution efficiency in the Waekasar Irrigation Area.
