STUDI PENINGKATAN JALAN (OVERLAY) PADA RUAS JALAN TLOGOSARI KECAMATAN TIRTOYUDO KABUPATEN MALANG
Abstract
Roads are a large part of the transportation infrastructure in Indonesia and we often encounter a lot of damage to the road that causes interference in driving. This study focuses on the improvement of Tlogosari Road in Tirtoyudo District which is a primary collector road facing significant structural and functional damage. As an important transportation route for agricultural distribution and logistics, it experiences heavy traffic from trucks and other vehicles. The existing road condition exhibits problems such as bleeding, cracking, and peeling, caused by inadequate structural support amidst increasing traffic loads. This study identified problems related to inappropriate road widths and frequent surface failures, resulting in the need for repairs, including resurfacing and structural upgrades. Using the 2024 Pavement Design Manual (MDPJ), the study planned to widen the road from 5 meters to the standard 7 meters and increase the pavement thickness to improve durability and performance. Traffic volumes were projected for 20 years, with calculations showing cumulative equivalent single axle loads of 5,352,879,739 for CESA4 and 5,338,427,143 for CESA5. The required layer thickness ranges from 60 mm to 136 mm based on standard practice. The total cost estimated for this project is approximately IDR 144.89 billion. Recommendations include adopting alternative methods for more efficient layer thickness calculation and periodically updating traffic and deflection data to improve future project planning.
