ANALISIS EFISIENSI PETERNAKAN AYAM PETELUR DENGAN STRAIN BERBEDA (STUDI KASUS DI PT SUMBER KELAPA BEKY BLITAR)
Abstract

EFFICIENCY ANALYSIS OF EGG-LAYING HEN FARMING WITH DIFFERENT STRAINS (A CASE STUDY AT PT SUMBER KELAPA BEKY BLITAR)
Abstract
This study aims to analyze business efficiency and economic feasibility, as well as to determine the more profitable layer hen strain (Lohmann Brown vs. Hy-Line Brown) under a closed-house housing system. The research was conducted in May 2026 at PT Sumber Kelapa Beky, Blitar, East Java, involving population of approximately 48,500 layer hens of the Lohmann Brown and Hy-Line Brown strains aged 18 to 49 weeks, using a case study method with a quantitative descriptive approach. Data analysis encompassed production performance (Feed Conversion Ratio/FCR, Hen Day Production/HDP) and financial feasibility (R/C Ratio, BEP, and profitability). The results indicated that the Lohmann strain achieved better feed efficiency, with a 49-week HDP of 94.3% and a lower FCR value. Conversely, the Hy-Line strain excelled in egg production volume (38,878.80 kg/month), revenue (IDR 933,091,200/month), and profit (IDR 226,424,200/month). Financial analysis revealed that both strains are economically viable (R/C Ratio > 1), with the Hy-Line strain obtaining a slightly higher R/C Ratio (1.32) than the Lohmann strain (1.29). Price BEP for Lohmann was IDR 1,142/egg and for Hy-Line was IDR 1,178/egg, with production BEP reaching 459,471 and 453,573 eggs/month, respectively. In conclusion, both strains are economically feasible for closed-house farming systems; however, the Hy-Line strain is more profitable and economically efficient, particularly in weight-based (kilogram) egg marketing systems. Consequently, the Hy-Line strain is recommended as the primary choice while maintaining optimized feed management.
