PERAN GURU PAI SEBAGAI PEMBIMBNG DAN PENDIDIK DALAM MENANGGULANGI KENAKALAN PESERTA DIDIK DI SMK PLUS ALMAARIF SINGOSARI MALANG

Abstract

Student delinquency remains one of the major challenges faced by schools in developing students' character and moral values. This issue is also found at SMK Plus Almaarif Singosari Malang despite its strong religious educational environment. Therefore, the role of Islamic Religious Education teachers is essential, not only as instructors but also as mentors and educators in guiding students toward positive behavioral change. This study aimed to describe the role of Islamic Religious Education teachers as mentors and educators, identify the strategies they implemented to overcome student delinquency, and explain the outcomes of those roles and strategies. This research employed a qualitative approach using a case study design. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using the interactive model of Miles and Huberman, consisting of data collection, data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that Islamic Religious Education teachers perform their mentoring role through personal approaches and continuous assistance, while their educational role is reflected through exemplary behavior and character education. The strategies implemented include creating a positive school culture, organizing religious activities, applying storytelling and exemplary methods in learning, providing educational rewards and punishments, and collaborating with guidance counselors, homeroom teachers, school administrators, and parents. These efforts contributed to reducing student delinquency, improving discipline and honesty, and enhancing students' learning achievement in Islamic Religious Education.
