Abstract

This study aims to describe the roles, implementation strategies, and multidimensional constraints faced by Islamic Education (PAI) teachers in improving student discipline during congregational prayers at SMA Negeri 8 Malang. Utilizing a descriptive qualitative approach, data were gathered through non-participative observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model. The results reveal that PAI teachers perform crucial roles as spiritual guides, role models, and motivators. Implementation is carried out systematically through collaborative scheduling, peer-leadership modeling, and progressive educational sanctions. Despite these efforts, teachers encounter complex challenges including uneven student religious consciousness, limited ablution (wudhu) facilities, structural schedule overlaps, and a lack of specialized psychological counseling competence. The study concludes that building sustainable religious discipline requires a synergized whole-school ecosystem and active parental support.
