IMPLEMENTASI SCHOOL RELIGIOUS CULTURE DALAM MEMBENTUK KARAKTER DISIPLIN PESERTA DIDIK DI SMA ISLAM KEPANJEN

Abstract


This study investigates the implementation of school religious culture in forming students' discipline character at SMA Islam Kepanjen. The low level of student discipline observed through non-compliance with school rules, tardiness, and lack of awareness in performing worship, has prompted the school to design a structured religious culture program. This research employs a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, involving the principal, Islamic Education teachers, and the student affairs coordinator as informants selected through purposive sampling. Data analysis followed the interactive model of Miles and Huberman, while validity was ensured through source triangulation and method triangulation. The findings reveal three main aspects: (1) planning was carried out systematically through an annual Work Meeting (RAKER) and the development of a student religious activity book distributed since the School Introduction Period (MPLS); (2) implementation was realized through five main activities congregational prayers (Dhuha and Dzuhur), the 3S culture (smile, greet, say hi), Qur'an reading, Khotmil Qur'an through anjangsana, and Friday infaq which collectively formed four dimensions of student discipline: time discipline, rule discipline, attitude discipline, and worship discipline; and (3) evaluation was conducted through monitoring via a communication book involving teachers and parents, and the application of constructive sanctions based on the principle of positive discipline. This study concludes that a well-planned, consistent, and continuously evaluated implementation of school religious culture is effective in forming students' discipline character.
