Abstract

The increasingly alarming environmental crisis demands that Islamic educational institutions cultivate students' ecological awareness through an ecotheological approach. MTsN 3 Malang has developed the implementation of ecotheology within the Islamic Religious Education (PAI) Curriculum through the Hubbul Bi'ah (love of the environment) approach as part of strengthening Islamic values. This study aims to describe and analyze the planning, implementation, and outcomes of ecotheology implementation in the PAI curriculum at the madrasah. This research employed a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation studies, then analyzed using the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña, with validity tested through triangulation of sources, techniques, and time. The results show that ecotheological planning has been integrated since the preparation of the Madrasah Operational Curriculum (KOM) through the concept of rahmatan lil 'alamin, the Hubbul Bi'ah dimension of the Love-Based Curriculum (KBC), and the Sustainable Living theme in P5RA, which PAI teachers subsequently translate into the mapping of teaching materials and Learning Implementation Plans (RPP). Implementation takes place through intracurricular learning in Akidah Akhlak, co-curricular P5RA activities on the theme of Sustainable Living with the sub-theme of waste management, and habituation and role-modeling programs such as Clean Friday and the Healthy Madrasah Movement. The results of implementation are reflected in changes in students' understanding and behavior, including habits of caring for plants, maintaining cleanliness, and sorting waste, which are also carried into the home environment, although the sustainability of habituation still faces constraints related to limited assessment time and large student numbers. This study concludes that the implementation of ecotheology in the PAI curriculum at MTsN 3 Malang takes place as one integrated curriculum cycle, from planning and implementation to outcome evaluation, guided by the Hubbul Bi'ah approach rooted in the madrasah's institutional wisdom.
