PERAN KEPALA SEKOLAH DALAM MENINGKATKAN PERFESIONALISME GURU PENDIDIKAN AGAMA ISLAM DI MTS MIFTAHUL HUDA TUMPANG MALANG

Abstract

This study aims to describe the role of the principal in improving the professionalism of Islamic Religious Education teachers at MTs Miftahul Huda Tumpang, to identify the forms of teacher professionalism, and to examine the supporting and inhibiting factors in its implementation. This research employed a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, while data analysis was conducted through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings revealed that the principal plays an important role as an educator, manager, supervisor, and motivator in improving the professionalism of Islamic Religious Education teachers. The principal carried out guidance, academic supervision, and motivation to encourage teachers to improve the quality of learning and professional competence. Teacher professionalism was reflected in their ability to conduct learning activities, guide students, and instill Islamic values within the school environment. Supporting factors included communicative leadership, collaboration among teachers, and a religious school environment. Meanwhile, inhibiting factors included limited learning technology facilities, high administrative workloads, and varying levels of teacher motivation in participating in professional development activities. Therefore, the principal’s leadership has a significant influence on improving teacher professionalism and the quality of learning in the madrasa.
