Abstract

As a country with diverse ethnicities, cultures, and religions, Indonesia faces challenges in maintaining harmony, particularly in school environments. Sekolah Menengah Pertama Negeri 2 Jabung has students from various social, economic, ethnic, and religious backgrounds. Although student life is generally harmonious, a lack of understanding about diversity has the potential to foster intolerant attitudes. Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers play a strategic role in instilling multicultural values to build an inclusive and tolerant educational environment. This study aims to describe and analyze (1) the planning undertaken by PAI teachers in instilling multicultural values, (2) the implementation process carried out by PAI teachers, and (3) the results of the strategy for instilling multicultural values by PAI teachers at Sekolah Menengah Pertama Negeri 2 Jabung. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data collection techniques include observation, interviews, and documentation, while data analysis refers to the Miles and Huberman model. The research findings indicate a structured strategy. The planning involves implicitly integrating multicultural values into the Teaching Module/RPP, formulating inclusive learning objectives, selecting teaching materials based on the principle of Rahmatan lil 'Alamin, designing participatory methods, and planning process-oriented assessments. The implementation process is realized by creating a comfortable and open classroom atmosphere, applying fair and non-discriminatory communication, conducting collaborative learning through heterogeneous groups, and facilitating student reflection through guiding questions. The results of this strategy show the formation of inclusive attitudes, an increase in students' collaborative skills, and a shift towards a more open-minded perspective, with teacher role-modeling and reflective methods being the most effective instruments.
