PENERAPAN METODE ICE BREAKING DALAM PEMBELAJARAN PENDIDIKAN AGAMA ISLAM DI SEKOLAH

Abstract

A study conducted at SMP Negeri 24 Kota Malang revealed that the school has implemented ice breaking techniques as part of its efforts to help students stay focused, build interest, and stay motivated—particularly in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) classes. This research aims to explore the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the use of ice breaking methods in the classroom. A qualitative approach was used, with data collected through observation, documentation, and interviews. The data analysis followed Miles and Huberman’s interactive model, involving three simultaneous activities: data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. Based on the research focus, the findings show that in terms of planning, the application of ice breaking has met the required standards and is well-integrated into the lesson plans for PAI. In terms of implementation, the technique was carried out effectively and in line with both theoretical frameworks and practical strategies found in previous studies. This includes proper timing, adaptation to classroom conditions, the forms of ice breaking activities used, as well as the supporting and inhibiting factors. The method also contributed to increased student interest in PAI. Regarding evaluation, the application of ice breaking met the necessary procedures and evaluation indicators. Overall, this study shows that the use of ice breaking techniques can significantly enhance students’ interest in learning, especially in Islamic Religious Education classes at SMP Negeri 24 Kota Malang.
