Author Guidelines

Guideline to write Title, Name, and Author Address

The title of the manuscript must be written at the top of the first page with the center line of the text alignment. Meanwhile, the author's name (without academic degree), and the address of the author's affiliation, must be written with the center text alignment as well as under the title. Authors must provide two spaces between title and author name. Then, the distance between the author's email and the abstract title is two spaces. Keywords should be written under the overall abstract for all words. Additionally, it must be separated by a semicolon (;) for a maximum of three to six words.

Corresponding authors should be written first and then followed by second author, third author, and so on. Communications regarding manuscript revisions and final statements will be informed by email to the first authors only. If there is more than one author, the author's name must be written separately with a comma (,). If the author's name consists of two words, the first name should not be abbreviated. If the author's name is only one word it should be written clearly. However, in the online version it will be written in two words with the same name repeatedly for metadata indexing purposes.

Manuscript General Guidelines
The general guidelines for the manuscript are as follows:

  • The submitted manuscripts are manuscripts that have never been published in other publication media or publishers.
  • The script does not contain any plagiarism element. The editorial board will immediately reject texts that show plagiarism.
  • Manuscripts that have been written under the guidance of the Pena Dimas: Jurnal Pengabdian Masyarakat (in MS Word format) must be submitted through the Online Submission System using the Open Journal System (OJS) on the Pena Dimas: Jurnal Pengabdian Masyarakat portal (http://riset.unisma.ac.id/index.php/PENADIMAS/index) choose one procedure. Then, register as an author in the Register section.
  • Templates and script writing guides are available in MS Word (.doc) format and can be downloaded here.
  • Manuscripts that are not relevance with the guidelines for writing the Pena Dimas: Jurnal Pengabdian Masyarakat will be returned to the author prior to the review process.
  • The manuscript must contain several aspects of the scientific article in the following order: (a) title, (b) author's name (without academic degree), (c) author's institution, (d) author's e-mail, (e) abstract and keywords, (f) introduction, (g) method of implementation, (h) results and discussion, (i) conclusions, (j) references.
  • Subtitles that are included in (a) introduction, (b) method of implementation, (c) results and discussion, (d) conclusions, and (e) suggestions must be numbered in order of numbering starting from one. Subtitles are written in bold format. It uses left text alignment without an underline. Subtitles are expanded, next should be written in bold and sentence format. It should use left text alignment and second-level numbering format.
  • Manuscripts are written in Indonesian with standard language. Manuscripts must be written based on the template and written on paper with a custom size of 18 cm (width) 25 cm (height) with a margin of 2.49-2.5-2.49-2 cm (Top-Left-Bottom-Right).
  • The text of the script uses Arial Font style with a size of 12 pt for the script title, 10 pt for the abstract, 11 pt for the body paragraph and 10 pt for the caption of the table / image / graphic.
  • Words from foreign languages or those that are declared foreign are typed in Italic format. Each paragraph starts 10 mm from the left side border while there is no space between paragraphs.
  • Tables and figures are placed in a text group after the referenced table or image. Each image must be labeled (captioned) below the image and numbered followed by the image title. Each table must be given a table title (Table Caption) and numbered above the table followed by the table title. Tables should not contain vertical lines, while horizontal lines are only allowed for important points
  • Attached images must be guaranteed that they are printed with good quality (font size, resolution and clearly visible line space). Pictures, tables and charts should be centered between groups of text. If it has a larger size, it can be placed in the center of the page.


Guidelines for Writing Manuscript Body Text

  • Title: The Title Must Be Appeal, Clear, Precise And Approximately Not More 20 Words. Write An Article Title Using Simple And Straightforward Words That Can Offer Readers A Glimpse Of The Content With Their First Glance. [Arial, 14] with bold selection and in middle of text format.
  • Affiliation.  Provide the full postal address of each author’s affiliation, including the province and country [Arial, 11]
  • Abstract: Abstract written in English contains the essence of the background of community service activities, activity objectives, methods of implementing activities, and activity results. Abstract is written in a minimum of 150 words and no more than 300 words. [Arial 9, single spacing]
  • Keywords: Consists of at least 3 keywords and a maximum of 6 keywords, each of which is separated by a semicolon (;), and italicized. [Arial, 9]
  • Introduction: The introduction section contains an explanation of the problems, challenges, or needs of the community (partners) that underlie or inspire the implementation of community service activities related to the compiled title.  Describe problems based on facts and/or hypotheses. Come up with a gap analysis or statement of the gap (originality) or novelty of this program with previous relevant (similar) community service. Strengthen the urgency of program implementation based on the state of the art (brief literature review) of previous articles (similar) to justify the novelty of this article. To show the element of novelty, it is necessary to present a comparison with community service activities that have been carried out previously. Furthermore, describe the solution to solve the problem. The entire introduction is presented in an integrated manner in the form of paragraphs.  [Arial, 11].
  • Implementation Method: The implementation method section contains exposure to program implementation approaches to address community (partner) problems such as Asset Based Communities Development (ABCD), Participatory Action Research (PAR), Community Based Research (CBR), Service Learning (SL). Explain who the program partners are, where the program is located, the time of program implementation, and the number of participants who attend and participate in the activities. Next, explain the stages of program implementation by describing the stages of implementation. In general, the stages of implementation in community service programs are socialization, education, training, and evaluation. [Arial, 11].
  • Results:  The results section contains a description of the results of community service activities in the form of a description of the characteristics of the activity participants and a description of the program achievement data. The systematics of this section contain a description of the results of the community service process, namely an explanation of the dynamics of the assistance process (the variety of activities carried out, forms of technical actions or program actions to solve community problems). It also explains the emergence of expected social changes, such as the emergence of new institutions, behavioral changes, the emergence of local leaders, and the creation of new awareness towards social transformation, and so on.   •  Discussion: Contains a description of the discussion of community service results, theoretical discussions relevant to the findings of community service. Relate this to the program success indicators referred to. For each program success indicator, also discuss the theoretical and practical findings from the community service process from the beginning to the occurrence of social change. The discussion of the community service results is reinforced with references and theoretical perspectives supported by a relevant literature review and recommendations for the sustainability of community service.   • Conclusion:  The conclusion section contains the achievements of community service activities in relation to the objectives and targets of the activity in the form of a digest of the results of the discussion. Explain whether the implementation was successful or not, what the obstacles were, and how the results were. Provide suggestions for the continuation of the program that has been carried out. The conclusion is presented in paragraph form. [Arial, 11].
  • Acknowledgements (If Required):  Acknowledgments can be made to the person who gave the community service grant (if the community service comes from grant funds). [Arial, 11].

  • Conflict Of Interest: All authors should disclose any personal and/or financial relationships with others or organizations that may improperly influence their paper. A conflict of interest statement should be provided in the manuscript file immediately before the References section. Case there are no Conflicts of Interest, so report "The authors declare no conflicts of interest". [Arial, 11]

  • Funding: The names of the funding organizations should be written in full. If there was no financial aid, it should be reported that "This research did not receive any financial support". [Arial, 11]

  • References

    The reference list contains at least 25 references from primary data (sources from research articles in scientific journals, it is recommended to cite reputable international journals) and other data sources (research reports / community service, news in newspapers, etc.) arranged alphabetically and published within the last 5 years. The reference list uses APA Style 6 standard and must use Mendeley reference management [Arial, 11].  Complete the reference data by including the DOI for each reference. Citations and References Guidelines
Citation in an article that is taken from another author's article must attach a reference sources. References must use a reference application management such as Mendeley or Zotero.

 

 

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  2. The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
  3. Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  4. The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  5. The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  6. If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.
