The Effectiveness of Oral Corrective Feedback (OCF) To Improve Students’ Speaking Skill

Abstract

This research was conducted to measure the effectiveness of oral corrective feedback to improve the students’ speaking skill. The research design was pre-experimental design. The samples were taken from English Department in STKIP Taman Siswa Bima. The researcher decided to choose the sixth semester students because they were available and because the researcher had the permission of the Dean. To collect data in this research, the researcher conducted pre-test, treatment and post-test and the data were analized with SPSS program. The result revealed that the mean score in the pre-test was 38.25 and the mean score of the post-test was 46.00. then, the statistical computation used level of significance 0.05, since the t-ratio (19.544) was higher than the t critical value (2.093) at 19 degree of freedom. It was distinct that the difference of the two means gained score was significant. Therefore, it can be concluded that oral corrective feedback was effective to improve students’ speaking skill.
