PENGARUH FAKTOR–FAKTOR SOSIAL EKONOMI TERHADAP PRODUKTIVITAS PETANI TEBU DI DESA KESAMBEN KECAMATAN NGAJUM KABUPATEN MALANG

Abstract


The agricultural sector plays a crucial role in national economic development, particularly in providing food, absorbing labor, and providing income for rural communities. Sugarcane, a strategic plantation commodity in Indonesia, is the primary raw material for the sugar industry. Sugarcane productivity is significantly influenced by various factors, both technical and socioeconomic factors of farmers. This study aims to analyze the influence of socioeconomic factors on the productivity of sugarcane farmers in Kesamben Village, Ngajum District, Malang Regency. The study employed a quantitative approach with multiple linear regression analysis. The data used were primary data obtained through questionnaire interviews with 53 sugarcane farmer respondents. The results showed that simultaneously, all independent variables— education, farming experience, technology application, age, land area, capital, and number of dependents—significantly influenced sugarcane farmer productivity. Partially, the variables of education, farming experience, technology application, and capital significantly influenced productivity, while age and number of dependents did not. The coefficient of determination value of 0.998 indicates that 99.8% of the variation in sugarcane farmer productivity can be explained by the variables in the research model.
