PENGARUH MODEL PEMBELAJARAN PROBLEM BASED LEARNING BERBANTUAN APLIKASI MATH CITY MAP TERHADAP KEMAMPUAN BERPIKIR KRITIS BANGUN RUANG SISWA KELAS 5 MI KHADIJAH KOTA MALANG

Abstract


This study investigates the effect of the Problem Based Learning model assisted by the Math City Map application on the critical thinking skills of fifth-grade students in learning cube and block volume at MI Khadijah Malang. The study responds to the limited use of contextual technology-based media in mathematics classes, which affects students’ engagement and higher-order thinking. Using a quasi-experimental method with a nonequivalent control group design, this research involved 56 students divided into an experimental class and a control class. The experimental group received PBL integrated with Math City Map, while the control group was taught conventionally. Data were collected through critical thinking tests and analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank tests. Results show that the experimental class outperformed the control class in both learning outcomes and critical thinking abilities. This indicates a significant influence of the PBL model combined with Math City Map in enhancing students’ understanding of geometry and fostering critical thinking skills such as interpretation, analysis, and problem-solving. This study provides meaningful insight into the integration of real-life exploration and digital media in elementary mathematics education.
