PERAN KEPALA MADRASAH DALAM MEMBENTUK KARAKTER RELIGIUS PESERTA DIDIK DI MADRASAH IBTIDAIYAH

Abstract


This study examines the role of the principal in shaping the religious character of students at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Al-Fattah Kota Malang. The background of this research arises from the erosion of students' religious values due to the influence of globalization and rapid technological development, which poses a significant challenge to the education system. This study adopts a qualitative approach with a case study method, aiming to understand how the principal designs, implements, and evaluates religious programs in a structured manner based on the needs of the madrasah. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation, involving the principal, Islamic education teachers, and the student affairs coordinator as research subjects. The findings reveal that the principal plays a crucial role through participatory collective leadership. Religious character-building programs are implemented on a daily, weekly, and annual basis using habituation and exemplary approaches. The study concludes that the principal’s active and strategic leadership significantly contributes to fostering a religious school culture and developing students’ moral and spiritual character. These findings provide practical contributions to Islamic education management, particularly in strengthening character education.
