STRATEGI GURU DALAM MENINGKATKAN KEMAMPUAN MEMBACA PERMULAAN SISWA KELAS 1 SEKOLAH DASAR

Abstract

Students' reading comprehension is a key factor in the success of learning at school, making early reading skills essential to master from the beginning. This study aims to describe the early reading abilities of first-grade students at SDN Klampok 02 Singosari, the implementation of early reading strategies, and the evaluation of these strategies. The research uses a qualitative approach with a phenomenological study design. Data collection techniques include interviews, observations, and documentation, using both primary and secondary data. The research was conducted at SDN Klampok 02 Singosari. Data analysis involved data condensation, presentation, and verification, with validity checks through in-depth observations and data triangulation. The results indicate that the early reading abilities of first-grade students are still low. The strategies applied by the teacher include phonics, Bottom-Up, drill (repetition) methods, and differentiated learning. The evaluation of these strategies reveals challenges such as the imbalance in the teacher-student ratio and varying levels of student comprehension, although there have been positive changes. The study recommends that schools provide more engaging books and supporting facilities, that teachers use creative methods and continuous assessments, and that parents collaborate with teachers to create a supportive learning environment and offer encouragement to students.
