Abstract


HVAC or Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning is an important system for maintaining environmental comfort in commercial buildings that is responsible for regulating temperature, humidity, and air circulation. One of the problems with HVAC systems is the considerable energy consumption in running the system. The (HVAC) Water coold chiller system is combined with the use of cold thermal energy storage (CTES) which is based on the principle that heat energy can be stored and reused when needed. The advantage of CTES itself is an energy storage method that can reduce chiller electricity consumption. This is because the operation of CTES can be set to operate outside of peak load hours (LWBP), thus saving electricity costs around 20% compared to full 24-hour operation.  This study aims to calculate and analyze the cooling system (HVAC) using the Cold Thermal Energy Storage (CTES) variation method that takes into account the time outside the peak load (LWBP) and identify the effectiveness of Thermal energy storage in the cooling system (HVAC) in commercial buildings with a capacity of less than 150 kVA with the optimum model resulting from energy analysis in the Cold Thermal Energy Storage (CTES) system with variations of Full storage, Levelling storage, 30% Partial storage, 50% Partial storage, 70% Partial storage, and 90% Partial storage. in commercial buildings (below 150 kVA). This research uses a simulation study method, with modeling of the CTES system using simplex linear programming optimization in combination with 6 (Six) variations of energy storage modes, where there is a balance between the size of CTES storage and chilled water stored.
