Analisis Fraksi Volume dan Orientasi Susunan Serat Kulit Batang Kersen dan Serat Pelepah Pisang Dengan Matrik Epoxy Terhadap Sifat Mekanik Pada Komposit
Abstract
Currently the need for composite materials has increased due to the characteristics of these materials which are lighter than metal, resistant to corrosion, environment friendly and economical prices making composites superior to metal materials. In order to support researchers to develop and explore the potential of natural fibers, this study used cherry bark fibers and banana stem fibers with an epoxy matrix, tensile and impact tests were carried out to determine the tensile strength and impact strength values. Tensile test used ASTM D638 standard and impact test used ASTM E23. Tensile test results show that the highest average tensile strength is in the volume fraction of 15% cherry bark fiber 5% banana stem fiber with 80% matrix or (K15P5) which is 80.38 MPa with straight fiber arrangement, and the lowest average value of Tensile strength is (K10P10) which is 56.75 MPa with woven fiber arrangement. Whereas in the impact test the highest average impact toughness was in the volume fraction (K15P5) which was 0.031 J/mm2 with straight fiber arrangement, and the lowest average impact toughness was in the volume fraction (K5P15) which was 0.016 J/mm2.Â
