Abstract

ABSTRACT

This research was conducted on low density polyethylene (LDPE) plastic, with the pyrolysis method applied as a pyrolysis fuel with a mixture of calcium oxide (CaO) catalysts. LDPE plastic is processed through a heating pyrolysis device with the highest temperature without any incoming oxygen. The heating process was carried out for 30, 60 and 90 minutes by comparing the effect of adding CaO catalyst in the pyrolysis combustion process of LDPE plastic. The results show that the catalyst mixture of calcium oxide (CaO) produces more liquid than the uncatalyzed pyrolysis oil process. This is because the CaO catalyst can function to increase the length of the C (carbon) double bond. In addition, the solids from the pyrolysis process without a catalyst become wax, while the pyrolysis process with a mixture of calcium oxide (CaO) catalysts produces solids in the form of char.
