Pengaruh Katalis Zeolit Terhadap Produksi Bahan Bakar Pirolisis Limbah Ban
Abstract
The accumulation of plastic waste including used tires for motor vehicles has always been a problem in Indonesia, and environmental experts and scientists have made various efforts and research. One of them is by catalytic pyrolysis process. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of natural zeolite catalyst on tire pyrolysis fuel production, by comparing the use of catalyst and without catalyst with variations in heating time of 30 minutes, 60 minutes, and 90 minutes. The method used is the experimental method. The pyrolysis process uses a reactor with a diameter of 30cm and a height of 40cm. The natural zeolite catalyst used is 10% of the weight of the 500gram waste tire sample and the temperature used is 150oC. From the experimental results, the highest oil product was obtained at a time of 60 minutes without a catalyst as much as 105 ml and a catalyst at a time of 90 minutes as much as 49 ml. The highest char product for 30 minutes using a catalyst was 66.6%. The highest gas product was obtained at 90 minutes using a catalyst at as much as 32.36% and without a catalyst for 90 minutes at as much as 30.88%. Physically seen from the color, the results of liquid fuel products using a 10% catalyst have a color that is not too black and the product results without using a catalyst are more toward dark black, this is due to the nature of zeolite can be used as adsorption.
