Distribution of Soil Surface Insects in Sugarcane Plantations in Pad and Dry Land

Abstract


Insects are animals that play a role in plantation ecosystems, one of which is sugarcane plantations. The distribution of insects occurs spatially (space) and temporally (time). This study aims to determine how the distribution of insects on sugar cane in Pagak District, Malang Regency. This research was conducted in February - July 2023 in Pagak District, Malang Regency. The sampling technique is purposive random sampling using the visual observation method on the pitfall trap. The space in this study is dry land and paddy fields while the temporal is in the form of 2 time periods, namely day and night. The distribution of ground-level insects at the two observation stations had a random distribution pattern and a moderate level of species diversity. However, the level of dominance and evenness at the two stations had different levels. at station I paddy fields. Both stations had the same highest abundance of individuals during the day and night temporal variations, namely Anoplolepis gracilipes (Heminoptera: Formicidae).
