Enzyme Production Practice for Initiation and Development of Scientific Work for Junior High School Teachers
Abstract
Community service activities are carried out with the aim of providing guidance on the development of scientific papers to junior high school teachers in the Singosari-Malang area, so that they can initiate the achievement of scientific work achievements in these schools. This is done by providing a workshop on compiling scientific papers that is integrated with enzyme extraction practices in the laboratory. The implementation of community service activities is divided into 4 stages of activity, namely (1) field surveys; (2) enzyme production workshop and training; (3) consultation clinics for compiling scientific paper manuscripts; and (4) activity evaluation. The enzyme production workshop was held on August 3, 2024, attended by 70 MGMP science teacher participants in the Malang area. Community service activities held through enzyme seminars and laboratory practices had a very positive impact. The provision of material was able to significantly increase participants' understanding of enzymes and biotechnology. There was an increase in the level of participants' understanding of the material from 63% to 81%. The workshop was successfully held, as reflected in the survey scores for the community service event which were predominantly directed towards the choices of Very Good/Very Satisfied; and Good/Satisfied by community service participants. Workshop activities have also proven to be able to provide very real benefits as shown by the results of participant testimonials who asked for continuation in the future.
