Development of Vermicompos-Based Integrated Agricultural System to Improve Farmers Welfare in Torongrejo Village, Junrejo District, Batu City

Abstract


Torongrejo Village is one of the villages located in Junrejo District, Batu City. This village is dominated by vegetable farmers with various commodities. Farmers have realized that there is damage to the soil due to poor land management procedures. Thus, one way to overcome environmental problems is by processing agricultural and livestock waste into organic vermicompost fertilizer. The method used in this community service is the direct approach method, lecture and practice. The direct approach method was used to find out the problems that exist in Torongrejo Village. The lecture method was conducted to provide information about the benefits of organic fertilizers and how to make vermicompost. The practical method is carried out to provide training on the processing of organic waste into good and correct vermicompost. The results obtained through the organoleptic test questionnaire obtained 12 out of 20 respondents stated that they liked the texture of organic fertilizers with a percentage (60%), then 13 of 20 respondents said they liked the color of organic fertilizers with a percentage (65%), and 8 out of 20 respondents stated that they liked the smell of organic fertilizer with a percentage (40%)
