Analisa Pengaruh Tingkat Kecemasan dan Depresi Pasien dengan Keluarga (Caregiver) terhadap Kualitas Hidup Pasien Kanker di Malang

Abstract


Background: Cancer patients' quality of life is influenced by many factors, such as physical, social, and psychological. Both the patient and the caregiver can experience anxiety and depression. This study aims to know the impact of anxiety and depression levels in both patients and their caregivers on the patients' quality of life.

Methods: Descriptive analytic cross-sectional study at the 3rd and 4th stage of cancer patients from 2015-2019 in Poli Onkologi Terpadu Rumah Sakit Umum Daerah Dr. Saiful Anwar (RSSA) Malang. Respondents chosen by purposive sampling method (n = 50) assessed using the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS) for anxiety and depression. Meanwhile, the quality of life assessed by the European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer Quality of Life Questionnaire-C30 (EORTC QLQ-C30). Data will be analyzed using multiple regression tests, which was continued by Pearson's correlation with p-value < 0.05 considered significant.

Results: Anxiety and depression of patients and their families do not affect the patients' quality of life (the value of R square respectively 0.042 and 0.043). A total of 14% of patients and 36% of families experience anxiety, while 10% of patients and 8% of families are depressed. There was a significant correlation between anxiety and depression of patients and their families (r > 0,279 dan p < 0,05).

Conclusion: Anxiety and depression in patients and families did not affect the patients’ quality of life. Meanwhile, in this study, there was a correlation between anxiety and depression in cancer patients and their families
