HUBUNGAN PENDEKATAN BELAJAR DAN HASIL TES MASUK (ADMISSION TEST) DENGAN PERFORMA AKADEMIK MAHASISWA KEDOKTERAN

Abstract


Background:Grade Point Average on even semester of academic year 2017/2018 in first, second and third year students showed 70,1% was >2,75 and 30,9% was <2,75. Its influenced factors were learning approach and academic admission test. In medical education, the students are expected to implement deep approach and selection of students into medical school purposed to enroll students that most likely to succeed in their academic and clinical year, and subsequently become competent and professional medical practitioner.

Methods: This study applying descriptive analitic cross sectional approach used all of the population first, second and third year Faculty of Medicine of Universityof Islam Malang’s students. The learning approach measured by Revised Study Process  Questionnaire 2 Factors (R-SPQ-2F). The test resuts from academic admission test results. The academic performance from Grade Point Average (GPA). Data analysis used pearson correlation test and multiple linear regression.

Results:Students with deep approach and average acamedic performance was the highest number (52,7%) and had significant correlation (r=0,272). Surface approach with academic performance had not significant correlation (p=0,851). Second year students with average admission test and average acamedic performance was the highest number (22,0%) and had significant correlation (r=0,225). The most influenced factor toward academic performance was deep approach (t=4,357).

Conclusion: Deep approach and academic admission test with academic performance had significant correlation with weak positive correlation, surface approach with academic performance had not significant correlation and the most influenced was deep approach.
