ANALISIS KESESUAIAN LAHAN UNTUK PERENCANAAN LOKASI TEMPAT PEMROSESAN AKHIR (TPA) SAMPAH DI KECAMATAN GONDANGLEGI KABUPATEN MALANG

Abstract


Landfill site selection is a critical component of sustainable solid waste management, as inappropriate locations may cause environmental degradation and social impacts. Gondanglegi District, Malang Regency, does not yet have an independently operated landfill, requiring spatial-based land suitability analysis to support landfill planning. This study aims to evaluate land suitability and identify potential landfill sites using a Geographic Information System (GIS). The analysis was conducted using seven spatial parameters, namely slope, distance to rivers, distance to settlements, soil type, protected areas, distance to administrative boundaries, and flood susceptibility. Spatial analysis was performed through buffering, reclassification, weighted scoring using a Boolean approach, and overlay analysis using the Intersect tool in ArcGIS. The results show that 871.83 ha (13.79%) of the total 6,321.58 ha study area are suitable for landfill development, while 5,449.75 ha (86.21%) are unsuitable. After spatial generalization and refinement, the recommended landfill area was reduced to 813.37 ha and distributed across seven villages, namely Ganjaran, Putukrejo, Sukosari, Panggungrejo, Ketawang, Putat Lor, and Putat Kidul. These findings indicate that GIS-based multi-criteria spatial analysis is an effective approach for identifying suitable landfill locations that meet environmental and technical requirements.
