Abstract


Irrigation water availability is an important factor in supporting agricultural productivity, especially
in areas that depend on surface water sources. This research aims to analyze the availability of
irrigation water, irrigation water demand, and evaluate whether the available water discharge is
able to meet irrigation needs in Waegeren Village, Lolongguba District, Buru Regency. The research
method used is quantitative analysis based on hydrological and climatological data from 2016–
2025. Evapotranspiration was calculated using the Modified Penman method, while river discharge
was analyzed using the F.J. Mock method to estimate water availability. The calculation results
show that the irrigation water demand reaches a maximum value of 2.133 m³/s, while the river
discharge varies monthly with values ranging from 0.090 m³/s to 4.915 m³/s in 2025. The evaluation
indicates that water availability is generally able to meet irrigation demand in most months,
although in several periods the discharge becomes relatively limited. In addition, the existing
irrigation channel capacity of 1.071 m³/s is still lower than the required discharge, indicating the
need for improvements in channel dimensions and irrigation network management to optimize
water distribution.
