STUDI PERENCANAAN INSTALASI PENGOLAHAN AIR LIMBAH (IPAL) SUSU SAPI PERAH PADA TPS SAWIRAN – KUD DADI JAYA PURWODADI KABUPATEN PASURUAN

Abstract


Wastewater management is an important aspect in maintaining environmental quality, especially in the dairy industry which produces wastewater with high organic pollutant loads. The increasing activities of milk collection and equipment sanitation at TPS Sawiran–KUD Dadi Jaya Purwodadi, Pasuruan Regency, generate wastewater containing high concentrations of BOD, COD, TSS, ammonia, oil, and grease that may cause environmental pollution if discharged without proper treatment. This study aimed to determine the characteristics of dairy wastewater, design a Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) using an anaerobic–aerobic biofilter system, calculate the required construction cost, and evaluate the ability of the designed system to meet wastewater quality standards based on Minister of Environment Regulation No. 5 of 2014. This research used a quantitative descriptive method through field observation, wastewater characteristic analysis, design calculations, and cost estimation. The designed WWTP consisted of a grease trap, equalization tank, primary sedimentation tank, anaerobic biofilter reactor, aerobic biofilter reactor, and final seidimeintation tank. Thei analysis reisults showeid that thei anaeirobic–aeirobic biofilteir systeim was capablei of reiducing pollutant conceintrations, with BOD deicreiasing from 484 mg/L to 0.79 mg/L, COD from 2,375.7 mg/L to 3.38 mg/L, TSS from 2,100 mg/L to 4.58 mg/L, and oil and greiasei from 940 mg/L to 8.1 mg/L, whilei ammonia and pH parameiteirs reimaineid unchangeid. Thei eistimateid construction cost of thei deisigneid WWTP was Rp33,088,889.93. Baseid on theisei reisults, thei proposeid anaeirobic–aeirobic biofilteir WWTP is consideireid feiasiblei as a wasteiwateir treiatmeint solution for TPS Sawiran in reiducing einvironmeintal pollution causeid by dairy wasteiwateir.
