Abstract

Roads are vital infrastructure supporting economic growth, socio-culture, tourism, and national security. Road geometry describes physical features like cross-sections and alignments. Traffic accidents involve vehicles crashing, causing damage, injury, or death. This study evaluates Jalan Raya Giripurno, between Batu City and Malang Regency. A black spot was identified in Segment 2 near Curve 2, with the highest accident rate of 88 EAN from 2020–2024. All curves have a Spiral–Circle–Spiral (SCS) pattern. The evaluation found road geometry strongly affects accidents, with curve radius (R) having the most significant influence (R² = 0.9741), followed by deflection angle (D°, R² = 0.7674). Stopping and overtaking sight distances have low impact (R² < 0.03).
