STUDI ANALISIS KEBUTUHAN DAN KETERSEDIAAN AIR IRIGASI DI DAERAH IRIGASI SP.VII DAN MAPURUJAYA KABUPATEN MIMIKA
Abstract
ABSTRACT
This research was prompted by the increasing demand for irrigation water in Mimika Regency, particularly in the SP.VII and Mapurajaya Irrigation Areas, which face challenges such as climate change, channel damage, and limited hydrological data, all of which impact irrigation efficiency and land productivity. This study aims to analyze reliable water discharge, irrigation water requirements, and determine an efficient main canal design to support sustainable water management. The method used is a quantitative approach through hydrological and hydraulic analysis with calculations of effective rainfall, Penman-Monteith evapotranspiration, and reliable water discharge using Weibull analysis. Data were obtained from PSDA and BMKG for the period 2015–2024, then analyzed to assess the balance between water availability and rice crop water requirements. The results show that the reliable water discharge is still sufficient with a reliability level of 80%, while the evapotranspiration value ranges from 3.1 to 5.2 mm/day and the water requirement is around 1.4 liters/second/ha. However, the efficiency of the irrigation network still needs to be improved through hydraulic improvements and data-based water management. In conclusion, the application of local hydrological analysis can increase water use efficiency by up to 30% and serve as the basis for adaptive cropping patterns in the Central Papua region.
