STUDI ALTERNATIF PERENCANAAN KANTONG LUMPUR PADA JARINGAN IRIGASI BENDUNG MANGKALAPI KALIMANTAN SELATAN

Abstract

This study aims to examine the design of mudbags as sedimentation control devices in the Mangkalapi Dam irrigation network in South Kalimantan. Sedimentation disrupts the optimal distribution of irrigation water. The methods used include analysis of air flow, sediment volume and transport rate, and calculation of mudbag dimensions based on the KP-02 irrigation planning standard. Excessive sedimentation in irrigation channels is a common problem that disrupts the efficiency of water distribution systems. This study aims to initiate the design of mudbags in the Mangkalapi Dam irrigation network in Tanah Bumbu Regency, South Kalimantan. The methods used include primary and secondary data collection, analysis of air flow, sediment transport rate, and calculation of mudbag dimensions and storage volume according to irrigation planning standards. The analysis results indicate that the existing mudbag design is not optimal in sediment deposition, as indicated by the high accumulation of mud in the primary channel. Recommendations for improvement include adjusting the mudbag dimensions, adjusting the flushing time, and strengthening the air intake system to minimize sediment ingress. This research is expected to serve as a reference in sediment management to maintain the function of the irrigation system in the study area.
