The world of education cannot be separated from literacy activities. Literacy becomes very essential so that science can be absorbed by students. In the current concept of literacy is not limited to reading and writing, but also analyzes, communicates, processes, reflects, etc. So that the focus of this discussion is the tradition of the ulama literacy 'nahdliyin at the pesantren, the culture of the students' literacy and the spirit of the tradition of the tradition of the ulama' literacy scholars' towards the culture of the students' literacy in Al-Munawwariyyah Islamic Boarding School, Sudimoro Village, Bululawang District, Malang Regency.The research was conducted with the type of case study  research. The process of data collection is done by participatory observation and non-participation methods, informal interview methods and using general instructions, and documentation methods. The data analysis technique uses data reduction, data display, and verification or conclusions. Test the validity of the data using triangulation, increasing perseverance and checking colleagues.
