PENGARUH THINK PAIR SHARE TERHADAP HASIL BELAJAR SISWA KELAS VIII DALAM MATA PELAJARAN PAI DI SMPI AL MA’ARIF SINGOSARI MALANG

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of the Think Pair Share (TPS) learning model on the learning outcomes of eighth-grade students in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) at SMPI Al-Ma’arif Singosari Malang. This research was motivated by the implementation of conventional learning that tended to limit students’ active participation, discussion, and collaboration during the learning process. The study employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental method using a Post-test Only Control Group Design. The population consisted of 160 eighth-grade students, with 50 students from classes VIII A and VIII B selected as the research sample, consisting of 25 students in the experimental class and 25 students in the control class. Data were collected through learning outcome tests and analyzed using validity, reliability, normality, homogeneity, and Independent Sample t-Test analyses. The results showed a significant effect of the TPS learning model on students’ learning outcomes, indicated by a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05. The Cohen’s d effect size of 2.104 indicated a very large effect. Furthermore, the experimental class achieved a good level of learning outcomes, with most students obtaining scores of 86–92 and meeting the minimum learning achievement criterion of 78. These findings indicate that TPS can be an effective alternative for improving PAI learning outcomes.
