Abstract

Emotional intelligence is closely related to students' learning motivation, as emotions often motivate individual actions in the learning process. This study aims to determine and analyze the effect of emotional intelligence on students' learning motivation in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) subjects at SMK Ma'arif NU 04 Pakis. This study uses a quantitative approach with a descriptive correlational research design. The population in this study amounted to 330 students with a sample of 57 students selected using a simple random sampling technique. Data collection was carried out through observation, distributing questionnaires, interviews, and documentation. The main instruments used were emotional intelligence and learning motivation questionnaires that had been tested for validity and reliability. Data were analyzed using a simple linear regression test, preceded by prerequisite tests including normality and linearity tests. The results showed a significant influence between emotional intelligence and learning motivation of students at SMK Ma'arif NU 04 Pakis. The simple linear regression analysis yielded a coefficient of determination (R Square) of 0.087, which means that emotional intelligence contributes 8.7% to learning motivation, while the remaining 91.3% is influenced by other factors outside this study such as intrinsic motivation, parental support, teaching methods, learning environment, and other external factors. The F value obtained was 5.233 with a significance level of 0.026 < 0.05, indicating that the regression model is statistically significant. Every increase in the level of emotional intelligence will be followed by an increase in student learning motivation. This confirms that the better the students' ability to manage their emotions, the higher their learning motivation will be.
