PENGARUH PENENDIDIKAN KARAKTER TERHADAP PENGENDALIAN EMOSI SISWA KELAS VII MTS ALMAARIF 01 SINGOSARI

Abstract


Character education plays an important role in shaping students' personalities, attitudes, and emotional maturity. Emotional control is one of the essential competencies that junior high school students need to possess because adolescence is a transitional period characterized by unstable emotional development. This study aimed to determine the effect of character education on the emotional control of seventh-grade students at MTs Almaarif 01 Singosari. The research employed a quantitative approach using a survey method. The population consisted of all seventh-grade students, while the sample comprised 91 students selected through Cluster Random Sampling. Data were collected using questionnaires and analyzed using IBM SPSS Statistics version 26 through validity, reliability, normality, linearity, and simple linear regression tests. The results indicated a significant effect of character education on students' emotional control. The ANOVA test produced an F value of 4.772 with a significance level of 0.032 (<0.05), indicating that the alternative hypothesis was accepted. Students with better character education tended to demonstrate greater ability to regulate emotions, control anger, behave patiently, appreciate others' opinions, and resolve conflicts wisely. The findings support the perspectives of Al-Ghazali, Dwi Mariyono, and Gross, emphasizing that continuous character formation contributes to the development of positive emotional regulation among students.
