Abstract

This study aims to analyze the approaches used by Muslim fathers in educating adolescent girls’ morality, to examine the educational practices implemented within the family, and to identify the outcomes of moral education in Tawangargo Village, Karangploso District, Malang Regency. This research emerged from the phenomenon of increasing social and digital influences on adolescent girls, reflected in changes in social interaction patterns, media consumption, and moral behavior, while fathers are often perceived primarily as economic providers rather than active moral educators. The study employed a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation involving Muslim fathers, adolescent girls, community leaders, and religious figures. Data analysis used the Miles and Huberman interactive model consisting of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that Muslim fathers implement moral education through physical, psychological, social, and religious-moral approaches. Fathers play strategic roles as role models, mentors, supervisors, and motivators in strengthening adolescents’ moral and religious awareness. The educational process is carried out through exemplary behavior, communication, supervision, habituation of worship, and collaboration with mothers and the surrounding religious environment. Furthermore, despite limitations caused by work demands and restricted interaction time, fathers’ involvement contributes positively to the development of discipline, responsibility, self-confidence, religious commitment, and socially appropriate behavior among adolescent girls. Therefore, active involvement of Muslim fathers can serve as an effective model of family-based moral education for adolescents in religious rural communities.
