IMPLEMENTASI MODEL COOPERATIVE LEARNING DALAM MENINGKATKAN PEMAHAMAN SISWA PADA MATA PELAJARAN SEJARAH KEBUDAYAAN ISLAM DI MTS NURUL HUDA PAJARAN PONCOKUSUMO MALANG

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of implementing the Cooperative Learning model in improving students’ understanding of the Islamic Cultural History (Sejarah Kebudayaan Islam/SKI) subject at MTs Nurul Huda Pajaran Poncokusumo Malang. The background of this research arises from the learning process that is still dominated by the lecture method, causing students to become passive and less actively involved in learning activities. This study employed a Classroom Action Research (CAR) approach consisting of two cycles, including the stages of planning, action, observation, and reflection. The research subjects were 32 seventh-grade students of MTs Nurul Huda Pajaran. In the first cycle, the Student Teams Achievement Division (STAD) type was applied, while in the second cycle, the Jigsaw Learning type was implemented. The results showed a significant improvement in students’ understanding, with the average pre-test score of 65.94 increasing to 72.5 in the first cycle and reaching 81.25 in the second cycle. In percentage terms, the improvement from the pre-test to the second cycle reached 23.17%. These findings indicate that the application of the Cooperative Learning model can enhance students’ engagement, collaboration, and comprehension in SKI learning. Therefore, the Cooperative Learning model is effective as an alternative interactive and participatory learning strategy to improve students’ learning outcomes.
